This is Nicco
When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter I decided I wanted to get only beautiful things for her, as any mother would. So, I put together a shopping list with the things I was going to need for my baby and I started looking around in my local (and not so local) shops in Dublin, but while I found lots of nice things, I realised that what I was looking for were things like maybe my mum would have bought for me when I was a baby… maybe more traditional, but still beautiful, practical and affordable.
My name is Maria, a Spaniard married to an Irish man, and we have our little Isabel, the joy of our lifes.
After giving birth I brought Isabel with me to introduce her to the Spanish family. When we arrived, my mom had a nice surprise prepared for us. She had arranged my old room with all those things I had spent so much time looking for which I couldn’t find in Dublin; traditional, beautiful, practical and affordable. I was so happy!
I also had the chance to introduce Isabel to my friends. Many of them were pregnant also at the same time I was with my baby, so it was very exciting for us all to meet again with the new members.
After a few weeks it was time to go back. It was a bit sad to say goodbye, but we were also eager to go back to our home in Dublin, specially with the amazing Irish summer that was waiting for us.
Once we got settled back at home I invited my friends in Dublin for afternoon tea. I had missed them a lot and I couldn’t wait to show them all the baby things I brought from Spain. They loved them!
That day I went back to the idea that had been on my mind for some time… Why couldn’t I bring to Ireland all those nice things from Spain?
This is how Nicco was born… a little business that does no great things, only small things with great love.
